Exclusive interview with Tania Raymonde about Death Valley

Some weeks ago I posted an exclusive interview with Death Valley's director and producers. That interview included some questions to Tania too, but she couldn't reply because she was filming 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D'.
Now she's back and she answered the questions I sent to her. It should be understood as a continuation of the interview with producers and directors, where we talk more about the show and the plot.

Tania, thank you so much for your kindness.

This looks like a very different role for you. You're not a sweet girl anymore. In Death Valley's trailer you rock and really looks so rude with those zombies! What can you tell us about your character? Did it require any special preparation?

Carla is a tough-as-nails chick. She's straight forward, very direct and takes her job seriously. She isn't afraid to kick some serious zombie ass, and above all, I think she loves what she does. She also really cares about her partner, John John, even though she's constantly getting him to focus when his mind starts wandering. And, oh yeah, she shoots to kill! We used plastic guns on the show--all the gunfire was digitalized after the fact. So most of my prep went towards getting the gun shots to look realistic.

After some collaborations in some other shows over the past few years, you finally have gotten a lead role in a series. What does this mean to you? Is this show, and the way they make it, different from other shows you have worked such 'Lost' or 'Look'?

This show was very different from anything I'd worked on before. We shot mostly nights for 3 months, and some of the episodes were shot in 3 or 4 days, so the pace took some getting used to-- we moved very quickly. We also interact with the camera a little bit, because this show follows the documentary format, so that was a fun new thing to do. I loved how physical this part was, all the action is so fun. Coming from a pretty serious show like "Lost", it's nice to do comedy again. Girls can kick ass and be funny too!

Today I found out your next project will be 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D". After Death Valley, I think you're going to become a "scream queen" :). What do you think of horror genre in general terms? What are your favorites horror movies ( I really want to know this! ) ?
I'm not necessarily a die hard horror fan, but I love a great movie. Some of my favorite movies are horror movies. The Shining is my favorite horror film. I love Rosemary's Baby, The Birds scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. And when I saw The Exorcist for the first time it terrified me to no end. I've seen some pretty innovative horror movies recently, too-- REC was incredible. The last minute of that movie in night vision...so well done, so scary.

So... Death Valley, Blue Like Jazz, Losers take all, Manson Girls, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.... You haven't stop working and you are getting better and better projects. What can you tell us of this moment of your career? What are your feelings? And what is your goal?

I'm lucky. Every new project is more fun and more exciting than the last. I'm writing a script I hope to direct soon. I'm happy and I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

Bonus: Two sneak peeks from upcoming episodes!

Thanks again to Tania, I should remark how kindly is her with us. Can't wait to see how she has evolved directing since Cell Division.
