Thanks so much to Chris from Cone Dog Productions/GoodnightFilm, and of course, to Tania Raymonde who has answered our questions by e-mail. Seriously, thank you very much. We've made an interview to Tania, asking her about current and future projects, and she has answered all our questions very kindly. As you know, my English isn't perfect, so I apologize if there are some mistakes. [Question] Taniaraymonde.net is the only one site on internet about you. We are making a great effort to get all the existing material about you. Do you know the site? What's your opinion about it? [Tania Raymonde] Hello! Yes, I do know about it. Thanks so much for all the effort you have put into it! I am very flattered and appreciate all the support and interest in my endeavors! It’s very cool. [Q] We really liked Cell Division, we had been voting for it at Indie911's site. Congratulations for the certificate of merit at The Fort Lauderdale. As far as I know, this is your student project. What did you specifically study? Have you finished it yet? [T.R.] I’m glad you liked it. I wrote “Cell Division” in high school and shot it once I graduated. I produced it on my own, out of school and found time to edit it when I wasn’t acting, so I guess it wasn’t really a student project. It’s completely finished now and as you guys might have noticed, it’s fully downloadable @ indie911.com! You can also leave comments for it on my Myspace for “Cell Division.” Thank you to everyone who’s enjoyed it! Click on read more to read the full interview....
You have written and directed the short film. What do you like most? Acting or directing? Would you like to be a director? I really like both pretty equally, for different reasons. It’s hard to choose one versus the other because acting and directing are very different exercises in creativity (if you can call it that.) Directing is fun because you can control everything about a scene but leave it up to the actors to internalize and perform, but acting is just as fun because the only thing you worry about is the emotion in your performance. The rest of it is out of your control as an actor, so you just do your best and let the director do his job. I hope I can continue to do both. The story of Cell Division is a very intimate relate about a lonely girl. I think that everyone when writes a story contributes with a little of himself's story. How did you inspire to write this one? Well I guess there’s always a little part of you in what you write. I’m not nearly as deranged as Lisa was, of course, haha, but there might be a bit of me in her. I tried to imagine how I would act if I were a girl like her, against all odds, rejected by everyone. I hope that there was some truth to her character. Cell Division and your latest films like Elsewhere, The Garage and Japan looks like independent productions, contrasting with "Hollywood products" like Lost. Where do you feel more comfortable acting? Honestly I just try to work on the most interesting stuff, wether it has a huge budget or not. A lot of the more interesting, edgier movies tend to be smaller productions, so I guess that’s why that’s most of the stuff I’ve done. Obviously Lost is great fun because it’s a big production and you get to do crazy stunts and witness awesome special effects (explosions, helicopters, etc...) but I have fun in everything I do. The better the script and the more interesting the character, the more fun it is and the more I want to do it. About "The Garage". We have noticed that this film has won many awards at the festivals it has been screened. However, it seems like it's going to be released directly on DVD. Do you know if we will be able to see this film on cinemas? Yeah, indies take a long time to come out! “Elsewhere” is in the process of getting picked up by a studio. “Little Dizzle” is still in post-production. I do know that “Still Waiting” is getting released in theatres and then on DVD in March of next year. All the other ones are still in the process of getting finished. We’ll have to wait and see! Elsewhere looks like your most important project at this time, we wish you luck with it. What are you feelings about this release? I’m very excited about Elsewhere! I just saw a screening of it and can’t wait for it to be released. I think you can check out the trailer for it on their website. You started with a very short role on Lost, and now you are becoming more and more important in each episode. We are very sure that we will see you more on the 4th season. I know that you can not reveal many things about Lost's plot, but.... is it possible that we will see an Alex flashback in the future? I can’t say much about the story but I can tell you that you will be seeing more of Alex in Season 4! There are some very exciting things happening on Lost, so you will just have to wait and see when it premieres in February! : ) How did you get your role on Lost? Were you a fan on the show before you get the role? I knew about the show before I started working on it. I really love playing Alex, I feel very close to her. She brings out the jungle girl in me! How can you combine Lost and filming 2/3 films on the same year? Everything has worked out so far schedule wise. I get to be busy doing what I love, so I can’t complain! What are your new projects? I play a mysterious girlfriend in “The Other side of the tracks” , a romance/ghost story coming out soon. And I’m “Ethyl” the janitor in “The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle” which is a very dark comedy about chemically enchanced cookies! I’m also one of the new waiters in “Still Waiting...” the sequel to “Waiting...” which will be coming out at the beginning of next year. Well, let me just one "fan question". Have you found your divided cell? :-P No! Haha, still waiting on that one! Thanks so much! - Tania |
